Each site will be chosen for its fundamental demographic make-up, site character, visibility, and ability to reinforce the branding message. The analysis takes into consideration, all possible scenarios including competition, demographics, placement, signage, frontage space, parking, and access. It also is designed to consider the proper rollout in the local market. Each trade area will meet specific criteria and each location must have positioning to help market the concept. Think: Starbucks, California Pizza Kitchen, Pei Wei, Baja Fresh, Panera Bread. The branding of these concepts was aided by the locations with which they initially expanded.
